Rick Ellis is a songwriter, composer, musician, poet, performer, and guitar instructor. Rick's focus is on songwriting and licensing his material to publishers and major recording artists as well as to the movie and television industries. Before going solo Rick honed his craft as a writer and musician by playing and touring with numerous bands. He is a virtuoso guitarist and has done session work with various recording artists. He has recorded and released three albums of his original music. Corporate Ethics in 1997, Perry's Lantern in 1998 and Cardboard Boxes in 2000. He is currently in the studio working on his fourth solo album Guns and Bibles which is scheduled for release in May 2008. Rick recently completed a book of song lyrics and poetry entitled Songs In The Key Of Love which will be published by Lulu Press in the spring of 2008. Redshoes Relics, Volume 3, a book of humor, is also nearing completion and will be published in the summer of 2008. He is also working on a non-fiction book entitled B.O.A.T. - A Primer For The First Time Powerboat Buyer which will be published in mid-2008.

Rick has received numerous awards and recognition for his writing. He has been a finalist in the International Open Poetry Contest numerous times. He was awarded "The Presidents Award" from The International Society of Poets in 2004, 2006 and 2007. He received the prestigious "Editor's Choice Award" from International Society of Poets in 2005 and again in 2007. Rick was inducted as a "Poet Fellow" by the prestigious International Poets Fellowship in 2007. Also in 2007 Rick’s poem "A Perfect Storm" was chosen for inclusion in The League of American Poets anthology series entitled Voices - A collection of short works.

Rick lives in Huntington Beach, California where he is a yacht broker. He is a life long waterman, avid surfer, fisherman and yachtsman. When Rick is not writing or playing music he can usually be found in, on, or around the ocean.
